Recently I was faced with this wonderful opportunity to eat my way around Byron Bay, combined with a healthy dose of exercise in between meals, simply to further stoke the appetite! On a Thursday morning it’s straight to Byron Farmers market for breakfast from The Nomadic Kitchen, and on other days; organic plant-based fare served thoughtfully at FOLK Cafe, or bacon and egg butties, green curry of fish, crispy pork belly roll with Asian pickles and their popular three cheese toastie with homemade mustard pickles are amongst the standard offerings at 100 Mile Table and then a cosy night out with some Argentinian fare on the fire at Barrio.

After a couple of days in the Huon we moved on again and met up once more with our three offspring in Hobart. Together we headed up the East Coast to stay at a small coastal town called Swanwick. It was just ten minutes’ drive from the well-known east coast town of Coles Bay and near the renowned Wineglass Bay, located in Freycinet National Park. Swanwick was a gorgeous place to base ourselves for ten days together.

Bruny Island runs along the south-eastern coast of Tasmania and is separated from mainland Tasmania by the D’Entrecasteaux Channel. Bruny (as the locals call it) is a dreamy place where you really can ‘get away from it all’ and live according to ‘Bruny time’.
