Byron Bay Eats

Byron Bay Eats

You've got just one day in Byron Bay - where would you eat?

The East Coast - Tasmania

The East Coast - Tasmania

After a couple of days in the Huon we moved on again and met up once more with our three offspring in Hobart. Together we headed up the East Coast to stay at a small coastal town called Swanwick. It was just ten minutes’ drive from the well-known east coast town of Coles Bay and near the renowned Wineglass Bay, located in Freycinet National Park. Swanwick was a gorgeous place to base ourselves for ten days together.

Our days in Hobart, Tasmania

Our days in Hobart, Tasmania

Hobart really is such a pretty place, and the many similarities found me likening it to the city of Wellington in New Zealand. Bruny Island runs along the south-eastern coast of Tasmania and is separated from mainland Tasmania by the D’Entrecasteaux Channel. Bruny (as the locals call it) is a dreamy place where you really can ‘get away from it all’ and live according to ‘Bruny time’.

Some days are just fun days!  You can plan as best as you can plan, and then there are the moments you could never have planned. This past month I have been traveling a bit doing cooking shows, around Australia. I have met some wonderful people. In the midst of it all, I have had more 'not planned' moments unexpectedly delight me, than I have time to share.

Our Delicious Adventure - South West Coast, Western Australia

Our Delicious Adventure - South West Coast, Western Australia

We drove south at a leisurely pace to a remote coastal haven Peaceful Bay, our next destination. It was a welcome relief to know the long hours of driving were behind us. Over the next five weeks we would drive shorter distances as we explored the beautiful south-west coastline of Western Australia.
